The first weekend in February was blocked off on my calendar for a few months in preparation for a retreat with friends. Initially, we were considering going someplace warm to escape the winter weather, but it turned out to be more of a local excursion. In the midst of another snowy week we prepared to head up to the mountains for a fun get away. We spent three days at a beautiful cabin in the Adirondack Mountains. It was just what I needed. I felt refreshed and renewed by the outdoor adventures and the meaningful conversations with good friends. We took a snowshoe hike to Marcy Dam, spent a day skiing at Whiteface Mt and evening dinners at the local pub. I think my favorite day was skiing. We met some crazy characters on our gondola ride up to the top of the mountain. Also, the local wildlife refuge center came to the ski lodge and brought few birds to show, one of which was a snowy owl. SO COOL!!
